Hello everyone! I've been reading these forums for a few weeks now, researching which android phone I want to upgrade to on March 13 when my NE2 is available. I think I've settled in on the Droid. I used to have a BB Curve then got rid of it and went to a basic texting phone because the browser sucked and therefore I didn't use the internet on it that much.

I'm pretty sure I want to get the droid after all the research I've been doing. I saw that the Moto Devour came out today, but looking at how the whole motoblur thing is implemented really isn't appealing to me so far.

My ultimate goal is to figure out how to root my Droid, create a nondroid backup, and install one of the nice roms out there that makes your Droid look like the setup that the Nexus one has. I've checked out a few youtube videos on how to do this, and it sounds a little complicated but I wanna try it out, along with overclocking too. Anybody have any issues with their phone going nuts after overclocking it?

Glad to be here, like I said, I've been reading for a few weeks and now I wanna jump into posting. Cya!

Check the faq for the right ups and risks of overclocking and all. But I hope you like the droid when you get it.

your best bet is to use DroidMod app. It does everything for you and gives you all the goodies (5 screens, live wallpapers...etc). It's so fast and easy and those guys are quick to fix any issues, however limited they are

Definitely get the Droid. You wont be sorry

    Happy rooting

Welcome! I hope you enjoy your new droid.

For my 2 cents, I would actually avoid Droidmod. If you have the time and are good at following directions, watch the videos (Cory posted them in the FAQ's or the Rooting subforum, you can find them with some looking) posted on youtube that show you step by step how to root.

I recommend this because then you can understand at least some of the "nuts and bolts" behind rooting and the software with it.

Although definitely get DM after, its good to have to 1) get DroidMod, and 2) got back to 2.0.1 easy for whatever reason.

    Good luck!
