I was browsing on the phone and using hotspot to watch a movie on my tablet, and the turbo charger was charging real slow. I have used my note 5 in similar situations and it charged much quicker despite being a much lower wattage charger. my note 5 also ran way cooler.

I recall with the Turbo 1, the turbo charging would only work if the phone was under 20% battery? Could that be part of what you're seeing?

The charging is 3A at 51% battery. It should step down, but it still shouldn't be charging at a three digit rate.

That really shouldn't be the case with either phone.

It Turbo charges (on the first Turbo) under 78%. I'm not sure what the figure is for the Turbo 2 - I haven't seen it specified, but I assume it is similar.

It may be stepping down the charge to prevent overheating the battery? Hotspot can really generate heat, as can the display.
