I just upgraded (maybe) from a Galaxy S4 to the Moto Turbo 2. I'm trying to set up my notifications for my contacts like I had them on the S4, but I can't find anywhere to set them for individuals. It was nice to have different tones for different people because i knew who was texting without looking. I found how to edit an individual ring tone, but not the text tone.

Is this something else the Turbo is lacking? Not real thrilled with this phone other than the storage.

Go into the settings for the email and SMS apps that you use and look for the notification settings. From here, you can set specific notification ringtones for that app if you want them to be different from the default in the settings app.

That's by design for Motorola phones since the 2013 Moto X and 2013 Droids. There is no setting you can change for this; Motorola has decided not to sound a notification while you are on a call. The notifications, though, will obviously be in the notification shade, so check when you are finished with the call.

What messaging app are you using? The stock Moto app or the Verizon app? IIRC, the stock app does not allow custom text notifications. The Verizon messaging app does just about everything you'd ever want, including custom text notifications. The trick with the Verizon app is that it assigns tones to contacts WITHIN conversations, not simply to contacts. So you must assign custom notification tones to a contact AFTER you receive a text message from that person. If you delete that conversation, you will have to reset a custom tone to that contact inside a new conversation.
