Unknown calls not in call log

So I dial a phone number, say 614-555-1234. After I hang up I look in the call log and its not there. At all. Why? Because its not in my contact list. If it was it would show up.

So I receive a phone number from 800-555-1234. Same exact thing. I cannot find the phone number in any log file at all.

Why is this? Am I missing a setting?

Nope. Just the built-in dialer.

I'm not sure why this would be the case with your phone. I just tested on mine and it shows up, dialed and received calls. I didn't put in any special setting.

Yes. I called myself on both my numbers, but neither one is on the other's contact list.

I have similar issues with incoming calls. Worse, or more curious, I can initially see a number (NOT in any contact lists) at the top of the list, but if I somehow close out of the phone mode, and go back, it is gone...and cannot see or find anywhere.

I just set up my new Moto G, 4.4.2., my google accounts, etc but when people on my contact list call me, there is not names, just they numbers. I have tried every option without avail. I googled, I got no answer. I made a quick search here and nothing so far. Help!
