My phone has started to get hot fast. I use it for a few minutes to read some Twitter notifications & a few Facebook notifications & the battery goes from 27 degress C all the way up to 40 degress C or more within a few minutes. This never use to happen. When I use to use it it use to go to 39 degrees C but that would be if I was on it for an hour. I've tried turning my phone off & on again but it hasn't helped. Is there anything else I can try?

Wipe your cache partition in recovery.

If that doesn't help, try using an app like Watchdog which can help pinpoint apps that get out of control. It also gives you a warning when the temp of the phone gets hot.

These are the steps for the T2; I assume that the X Force is the same: https://motorola-global-portal.custh...he%20partition

You've mentioned isuues using the miitomo app before - that it caused battery usage issues. For an answer on the phone getting hot (which is battery usage as well), I'd suggest maybe uninstalling that app for a day or so and see if it's the cause of the problem?

I cleared that cache OK. Will see how I get on now. Miitomo hasn't caused any battery issues as I turned on power saving mode in the app settings. I noticed Facebook is using at least 10% battery when it use to only use 3% max everyday. This only started yesterday with my phone getting hot fast & Facebook using a lot more battery. Have a feeling it's got some thing to do with Facebook.

Uninstall Facebook and access FB through the website on Chrome for a day or two. See if things are better.

Cleared the cache & it didn't work so uninstalled Facebook & my phone is running cooler now & think the battery is lasting a bit longer as I was only getting 1 to 2 & a half hours SOT when I normally get 5 hours. I installed metal for Facebook. All seems to be OK at the moment.

My Droid turbo 2 gets hot all the time. Without fail.

I will turn on my phone and it will be at about 100F. If I play any game or use any app besides things like calendar and clock, it goes to 110F. If I play any game, it gets even hotter, to around 115-120. It idles at around 95 degrees F. I think my battery is also suffering. I used to get around 5-5.5 hours of SOT. Now I usually get 3:40 of SOT. I use an Otterbox commuter case, but it doesn't have any affect. Is anyone else having this problem?

Is there an app using more battery than it should? This is how I found out that Facebook was my problem.

Yes! Mine started doing this a little over a month ago. Tried clearing the cache. Removed fb. Still gets hot, stutters sometimes becomes non responsive. Almost to the point I couldn't use it. Did a full erase and reset. I can use it much better, but still has issues. Not to mention battery life is not good.

Yep same exact problem that I have been having. Phone will get hot and drain extremely fast. Once it starts that if I plug the phone in it doesn't charge and just does nothing. I have already done a full wipe and the issue still continues. Getting a bit frustrated with my phone as of late.

If you go into battery settings, it will list the apps that are using the battery the most. After the battery drains to, say, 50%, what are the apps and services that are on this list, and what are their percentages? (You can also post a screenshot of this screen.)

It's likely that you have an app or service (or more than one) that is poorly designed, has data corruption, or is just using a lot of data on the background (though that particular cause can be hard to track.) Sometimes a look at this list will help find the cause of rapid battery drain.

Since I uninstalled clash royale, the problem is much better, but is still there. The heat is very noticeable when I take the case ff (otterbox commuter)

The only time my phone gets hot & drains fast now is when I play Pokemon go as it uses GPS high accuracy, WiFi/4G, vibrate & also has music & sound affects with camera thrown in sometimes. Also the phones processor is ramped up all this time too. When I exit the game everything goes back to normal.

Posted this in another thread so I thought I would chime in here as well.

I basically can not use Google Maps. If I try, within 5-10 minutes, the phone get so hot, it reboots. I've taken the case off and it last maybe a little longer before it reboots. But inevitably, it reboots. Every. Single. Time.

I used a Galaxy S4 and S5 for the past several years before the T2 - never had this problem - not once. Was even able to use Google Maps WITH a case on it! GO FIGURE!

There's NOTHING as frustrating as trying to find your way somewhere using GMaps in the dark, and having your phone reboot just when you are needing nav info... and then take 10 minutes to restart. FRUSTRATING.

I would do a factory reset and add one app at a time. If it's not better I would demand that it get fixed or replaced. I have an MXPE, not a DT2 fwiw.

I don't no how hot your phone is getting but on my way to work it was really hot in the car & I had Pokemon go on & my phone reached 45 degrees C & it didn't reboot. Would love to no how hot your phone is getting. Also don't worry as I'm not driving while playing Pokemon go my mum is driving & I'm playing.

When your phone gets hot, Then i think you can do some of these activities in your phone,
Check all the apps in the phone.
Remove apps with high graphics (Asphalt 8,Nova).
Reduce the time you play games on your phone.
These apps on continuous usage make the phone hot.
If thats not the issue, clean the phone. Yep clean the phone remove all covers check for any dust particles and clean it.
If thats also the case format the phone. This time only install apps from playstore and not from unknown source(Downloading apks). The apks may contain viruses or malware which will run throughout day and night making your phone slow.
Remove/Uninstall apps like antivirus , clean masters, battery savers ,money makers, facebook messenger, facebook official.
Disable apps like google search, google hangouts.

Whoever owns a DT2 needs to read this.

Those that are providing helpful tips mean well, but none of this will correct the issue.
IMO, this is either an OS bug or hardware issue.

I too have the same exact problems. Since I have insurance on my phone, I have had it replaced 4 times. Each phone with the same exact issue.
I had the original Droid Turbo before this and it was (and is) still perfect.

Upon using GSAM battery app, it showed that google play services is dominating the battery! Since google play services encompasses so much of the OS, it is difficult to narrow down.
However, I did find that when my phone started running hot, all of my gmail accounts went into a sync loops. All 3 account constantly syncing every 1 second. My battery was dying in a matter of hours.

There is no fix for this.

The only work around I came up with was to download an autosync toggle widget.
I set GSAM to alert me when the phone became 105 degrees, then I would toggle the autosync off for 15 min.
The phone then cools down and I turn sync back on until the next time.

On a side note, the phone also gets extremely hot when using any other app as well!
This is either a horrible OS bug, or a really sh!t phone.

So I'm going to abuse the damn thing and keep getting a replacement since Verizon wouldn't let me get a different phone after two weeks of having it.

I was lucky as mine was only due to the Facebook app & uninstalling it made my phone return to normal. I've reinstalled the Facebook app & it all seems fine still.
