Thanks for posting these pics. That f 2.0 lens is showing it's worth. Very encouraging. Low light conditions with people in motion. Looks good!

Is there a delay from when you press the shutter and when the camera takes the picture? If so, how long?

So I've been using 3 camera apps. The Moto, hq camera pro, and the Google Camera. The google camera has the least amount of delay.

Yes. This photo shows someone that was not there when it took the photo

Went to the Verizon store (again!). Tried the hand test with the Droid Turbo and stock camera app. No hand in the photo. Tried the hand test using the Google camera app and Droid Turbo. Got blurry pictures of the tips of my fingers leaving the photo area. Tried it with Note 4 and SG5. Got pictures of my hand. Showed the hand test to the sales rep. He had never seen that and was severely bummed out about it.

I then had the sales rep walk across the floor in front of me about 8-10 feet away. Got a very good picture of him frozen in mid-step. The only blurry portion was his foot that was on the uptake from his previous step. All other parts of his body were in focus. There were in-store signs behind him with fairly small font printing on them. I could read them.

    <Sigh>

But was he frozen where he was when you pressed the shutter or a step beyond? Just wondering.

Interesting possibilities. According to the author the new Camera API will allow manual access to basic camera controls - shutter speed, ISO, focus, flash, etc. This will be a huge narrowing of the gap between the Camera API and a standard point & shoot camera. This is a significant change.

The $64,000 question will be how the developers of Camera apps decide to exploit these new opportunities. But with well developed apps to interface with the new Camera API, there is an opportunity for an vast improvement in picture quality. Of course picture quality is largely driven by the human behind the camera. Unfortunately opportunities for improvement there are extremely limited.

Here is another set from this weekend. If you notice the Helicopter that Army was used to do the drop with the American Flag, you can see details inside the cockpit and even the back tail rotor on the rudder. HDR auto kicks in in that picture and its noticeable in how crisp that picture was.

Stills look really nice. Took kids to store and tried to capture pictures with them (they never sit still). All were delayed and none of them were crisp. Tried same thing with my DNA at the store and the pictures were much better.

I was at Verizon 3 times. I really wanted this phone and almost convinced myself the pictures would be fine. However, I can't have its camera. If things change with the update, please post. I'll occasionally check back to see any feedback.

Enjoy your Turbos! Unfortunately, I will have to wait or do the unthinkable and jump to the other side. Really don't want to switch...

Ha, yeah I eat out a lot and down a lot of beer. Totally unhealthy lifestyle, but it's how I get through college haha.

EDIT: And speaking of drinking...indoor with pretty dim lighting. HDR on and flash on the other.

Gotta say, the Turbo is the first phone I've had that didn't have a useless flash feature.

Detail on the dog's nose is pretty impressive. That was not in bright light, looks to be average lighting to me. Encouraging.

If in the stock camera app, are you using tap-to-focus? Or was this Google camera app?

Yeah lighting was fairly soft but not really dim, picture came out exposed in the right areas.

I was using the Moto camera, with the tap to focus feature. However I didn't actually move the focus, it was dead in the middle of the screen.
