Google Voice Voicemail doesn't work...

I've enabled it and even reinstalled but even though its my default voicemail Verizon keeps using my carrier voicemail. Anyone else? I was wondering why I had no voice mails but I actually had 9!

yes many times google voice fails

I solved the issue on my end anyways.

1.) Go to http://www.google.com/voice

2.) Click on the Settings Gear on the top right.

3.) Select Settings

4.) Hit the activate voicemail link and call the number it tells you to call.

5.) Test to make sure it works by calling your phone from a different number or Hangout Dialer.

The instructions here work. Specifically the 3 numbers you need to dial. Then change your voice mail number (in settings from the dialer app) to your voice number. . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2227819

these instructions worked great and just ended a very frustrating even. thanks.
I'll elaborate on them to update the process:

in my case it was getting google voice voicemail to work on my new Droid Turbo 2. ruining android 5.1.1
google voice worked great on my old droid, but when i got a new phone it broke it.


- settings wheel in the top right of the **.com/voice address
- Settings
- click the link that says deactivate on this number
- then click the link that says activate on this number
- as instructed dial *71(insert your 10 digit google voice number here)
(which call forwards your missed calls to your google voice number)
and boom. things work correctly again.
