DROID turbo photos disappear

I have this random problem with my turbo - some of the photos/videos I take never appear in the gallery. The phone seems to take the photo correctly. If I swipe in from the right side of the camera screen I can see the photo. But when I go to the gallery camera album some photos never show up there. Anyone have thoughts on why and how to correct this?

Are you using any other 3rd party camera apps? Sometimes those save to a different directory. And are you using the Gallery app or the Photos app? The Photos app (the one with the pinwheel icon) can be confusing, because it defaults to a screen where you see photos from your camera roll as well as your Google+ Photos cloud--and it might just be showing Highlights. You have to swipe in from the left and select On Device to see only the photos stored locally.
