So I had an offer to trade my Turbo for a HTC M9 yesterday, it does intrigue me, I've never own an HTC phone before. I understand it will be a drop off in battery life, does anyone have experience on how much that drop off is?

I had the M7 and had every intention of going to the M9 this spring. Beautiful phone, and I'm generally a big fan of Sense. It was the reports that the battery life might actually be worse than the M7 that drove me to the Turbo. The M7 barely got through a day, and often only if I recharged during my 60 minute total commute in the car. Otherwise, I've always appreciated nearly everything about the One.

No matter what they say about Snapdragon 810, I'd still stay away from it. I think we went back in technology a little with SD810. Every phone that has had the 810 throttles, heats up and then kills the battery quicker than any other phone. Not in that order but it has a lot of issues and patches were applied to help with the issues and they are just patches that also hinder the performance side of things.
I have not owned M9 but I had M8 and it had good battery life. Not great, but good. And all the people I know who went to M9 said M9 is worse than M8 so far. I'm sure you'll get better response from M9 guys but everyone praises the phone they have to justify their purchase

My wife has the original HTC One (M7?) and it gets very good battery life. Not as much as the Turbo but 24 hours or more in my nonscientific observations.

That said, she only uses her phone for work email, Facebook and Instagram so she does not have a lot of bloat on the device.
