    im still on kit kat.

    I think they took away the power control widget.

    try turning on GPS with maps it doesnt ask me if maps turns on the GPS for me

    You don't have to turn off location services altogether. You can use battery saving mode and gps won't be on, it just uses wifi and mobile network for location. It's extremely accurate, uses very little battery and if you do need gps for navigation it won't prompt you to agree because location services are already on.
