HOLY CRAP THIS PHONE SOUNDS GOOD.

It's been so long since we've seen a real high-end beast from Motorola, that we forgot what one looks like. Verizon users lucked out with this one I think.

This is the place for speculation, questions, and wishing on falling stars. Be nice and try to love each other for me, mkay?

I'm very excited for this device as well. My Gnex has been a good experience, but I'm ready for a new device and especially one with battery! I'll probably buy the MAXX variant off contract to preserve my unlimited data. My usage has been down for a while, but I think it's due to the limitations of my current phone. I could see a lot more streaming and heavy use occurring on that nice big screen sporting that battery.

I realize that this was just a rambling post about basically nothing, but I just had to share my excitement.

Not crazy about the buttons, but those aren't a dealbreaker. I just want to see what the rest of the phone is like.

Looking like the Ultra/Ultra Maxx have higher specs than the X.

Any indication on whether the three phones will be the DROID Mini, DROID Ultra, and DROID MAXX or DROID Ultra Mini, DROID Ultra, and DROID Ultra MAXX?

I was originally planning on getting the Moto X, but given the larger screen size, capacitive buttons (Soft buttons are preferred only if the bezel is small enough to justify it, which has not been the case in every case including the Moto X), and Maxx variant, I'll be getting the Ultra (Maxx). And this is not even considering the rumored mid-range specs.

Now if the processor wasn't the Snapdragon 800 and there wasn't a Maxx variant, it would be a tough choice between this (Which has proper buttons), the GS4 (Its hardware and software design are disgusting, and its buttons are horrible, but it has the touch sensor that can register hovers which I think will become standard soon), and the One X (Hardware is gorgeous, but not having a multitasking button is stupid). However the Maxx battery life alone is enough to make it an easy decision for the the Ultra Maxx.

My one "big" gripe is how ugly the Kevlar looks on the back of the phone. It looked good on the original Razr when it was surrounded by a bezel of some other material, but as an entire back-plate, it looks pretty bad.

I have unlimited data with my Galaxy Nexus as well. Will I lose it if I buy a new phone on contract?

If you use the upgrade associated with your line, then yes.

    So basically, yes.

I'm almost wetting myself thinking about the mini. I thought my Razr M would be the last decent-performance, smaller-sized phone ever produced. Can't wait to hear more specs on the mini, though.

Sp far the high end Motos have not been letdowns - they've been great phones. I am talking about the Razr and the RazrHDs. They aren't however phones your teen daughter is going to want. They are solid workhorse phones and I am going to hope that the Ultra is more of the same, but with more horsepower. I am thinking about camping in front of my VZW store, just like a Applephile on release day.

I would not be surprised to see the Mini emerge as the top seller of the Droid line. I'm spoiled with the battery power of the Maxx so I'll stay with it but if it had a Mini equivalent I'd have a tough decision. In the overall scheme of things, the Motorola X will dwarf the Droid series in the market just due to heavy ad campaign & being on multiple carriers. Most common buyers are not tech savvy & buy based on who knows what.

So...only 16 GB of storage. People say you can put all your music on the Google music cloud...but don't you have to use up your data when you play each song?????? Really am looking forward to the answer to this question!

What are you talking about "doesnt [sic] allow you to keep it on your device"? I have no problem saving music to my phone from the Google cloud. And that's why you like bad music? Um, okay.

With Google Play Music, when you pin the music to the device, it doesn't just save the music in a regular mp3 format somewhere on the phone - it saves it in a proprietary format that has to be played with the G. Play Music app. It works fine offline, but you can't just play the music with another app.

If you stream the music on a data connection, it uses your data. If you stream it on wifi, or you pin it available offline, it does not use your data.

So I have had the Bionic, Razr and now the Ultra.
I am disappointed that "multiltasking" hasn't happened and the camera has major issues.
I was going to get the Note II which still isn't out of the realm of possibilities. It's only been a few hours but I think that I made a mistake to be truthful about it, I will give it some more time
