unread email notification

The email icon has a 1 on it indicating there is an email..and there is not. I can't remove it. Any ideas?

Go to GMail (or wherever you have your email account) and find the unread one. It could be from last month and you missed it. (Some email web pages allow you to mark all the emails as read without having to find the unread one. Google lets you do a page at a time.)

Thanks ..it is outlook but I had already tried something like that... thanks for the input though!! I cleared my trash and everything but no luck. It happened once before and I deleted the email account then added it again but I would like to avoid that....

Yh notification doesn't go away even after I've read them ! Why ?
