I took some pictures this weekend and noticed the resolution seemed to change with the zoom. I never adjusted the resolution all day. On images where I am zoomed out (default) the images are 3264x1840 and pretty darn sharp for a phone camera. On images where I zoomed in maximum the images are 816x464 and pretty grainy...too grainy to be useful really. The camera changes the resolution on it's own. Is there any way to disable this? I'd prefer to have full resolution pics when zoomed. Is this just a result of having digital zoom as opposed to optical zoom? TIA.

Pretty sure when you're not using an optical lens, zoom is basically taking a still frame shot from the digital lens and literally "zooming in" on it. With an 8MP camera you get 3264x1840 pixel frames, when you want to zoom in you aren't optically zooming in on your subject, you're zooming in on that 8MP shot.

Sorry, but if you want real zoom and maintaining resolution, you're likely going to need a DSLR with an optical lens :(
