When I am in range of a known hotspot, my wifi doesn't automatically reconnect. I simply need to go into wifi settings, at which point it suddenly will show the networks in range and start to connect. Any ideas? Thanks.

This is a known bug in 2.1 on the DX. It is fixed on the unfinished leaked 2.2 that many are using, so hopefully when the official OTA comes down in a few weeks it stays fixed.

Yep, same problem here (and with the wife's). Looking forward to the 2.2 fix!

Same problem here...... hope that Froyo fixes it.... but I remain very skeptical at this point to believe anything about the elusive Froyo

Seems like there could be some knowledgeable feedback on whether 2.2 fixes this problem from one or two of those who installed the leaks on their DX's

Running stock 2.1 the exact behavior explained by the OP occurs with some WAPs. My Linksys WAP54G with the latest firmware does this. Running on (Leak 1) 2.2 this no longer happens. It just connects when it is in range.

Check out Y5 in the market, it's free and people started posting stuff about it yesterday.

It's designed to help save battery life by turning on the WiFi when you are close to a remembered hotspot...but in your case it should fix the problem you are having too.
i haven't had the issue on 2.1 since installed it...

I also run Y5 and it works perfectly, automatically connecting to both my home and office networks.

Thanks for this thread I've been curious about this because mine does it some of the time not always.
