Ok, my Droid X will be here in a few days so I've been doing a lot of reading and learning about this phone. I'm coming to the Droid X from a Blackberry Storm 1 but I already use Gmail on my Storm.
From what I gather, a lot of people don't like to use the built-in blur facebook widget because it imports all your facebook friends into the phone contacts. Here are my questions:
1- After the widget adds the facebook contact entries, are these same entries then synced with my Google contacts? I don't think I want a few hundred facebook contacts show up in my gmail contacts.
2- Is there a way to have the widget only sync existing contacts? I read some posts suggesting this is possible but I keep finding posts where people say the widget always adds all the facebook contacts to the phone contacts.
3- Slighty related question here. Does the phone keep separate contact groups? (facebook, gmail, etc). If so, if I add a contact to the phone, do I have to do anything special to get that contact to sync with gmail contacts? On my Blackberry, any time I add a contact, it just shows up in the google contacts.
Sorry for the newbie questions but I've searched a few different forums for hours and don't really understand if I really need to avoid the built-in facebook widget as many posts are suggesting.
