Keeping my fingers crossed that testing goes well and we see an official GB update next week.

I have unrooted GB .588 leak. It would seem that the "real" official OTA from VZN (whenever it comes) should load without having to go back to FROYO, since the .588 was a signed VZN OS. Any thoughts?
Can I just install the 595 no root version just by installing no root version of the 595 by renaming to update.zip and then installing it?

Based off of what I was reading last night, you do have to go back the the last Verizon OTA release of 2.2.1. The Kernel version i am running is 2.6.32.9 but do not quote me on that. P3 should have something up soon to let everyone know if he hasn't already.

So, based on what I read, the steps are to get the 4.5.595 GB and then follow steps:
Instructions:

1. Drop the file on your SD card.
2. Boot into recovery using the Bootstrap.
3. Install the zip through Clockwork Recovery.

Question: To get to Recovery, is that where I hold down menu key while turning phone on? And then I push both volume buttons, and then assuming I have renamed the 4.5.595 GB file Update.zip and copied to SD card, I just select run update.zip?

Or is it more complicated than that? Note: I have unrooted DroidX.

I got my phone from .588 to .595 last night with no problems. You have to be on .588 (and of course have it rooted) and install the Droid 2 bootstrap mod (not the Droid X one, oddly enough). I installed .591 first and then .595 stock, but I've seen others that went right from .588 to .595 with no problems.

I was a little frustrated that I had to do a bootstrap recovery to get to a leaked update from the ota one (.588) but it's really not hard once you take the plunge.

I can't update to 595. I downloaded the zip and when I power off and back up holding the power button and home it just comes up with a triangle with ! inside but won't let me go any further, any suggestions.

Did you press both volume buttons at the same time after the triangle with ! screen came up?

I doubt it, but there is already a 1 click root method for Gingerbread that has been working on these leaks.
