As far as I understand it, the update will still come successfully to your phone via OTA even if you're rooted using Gingerbreak. The update will most likely take away your root, however. Then you would probably just be able to run Gingerbreak again to regain root access.

The only time the update won't come automatically is when ROM developers put a "block" on OTA updates for the people that want to continue using custom ROMs and don't want to be pestered with the update notification. Since there aren't any ROMs for the Droid X2 yet, it should come normally. Here's hoping we don't have to wait long to find out.

i had to unroot my DX1 to get the ota to download successfully. tried first with root would not take. using Z4root
