Formatting SD card

I am running Bugless Beast v1.0 on my Droid. I am showing only 10.06 GB available on my 16 GB SD card. I don't have any music on it, so I don't know what is occupying the space.
What would I lose if I format the card?

If you don't have anything on your card you wouldn't lose anything.
I would first put the card in a memory card reader in a pc and see if any hidden folders, etc. show up. If not format away (in the device)

You will never get the amount of space advertised, i.e. 14gb, but it should not be 10gb empty.
