Well I was thrilled when I finally saw that there was no longer a 160 character thread limit on the Droid. Like there was on my Storm. I loved it back when I was on Tmo and did not have the restriction.

However in case the rest of you did not know this, there is still a limit and restriction. Even though the Droid will let you compile up to 7 pages worth of 160 character SMS messages in one outing.

So you can send them out and if you were like me and sent one out to other people who were not on VZW network you probably got this SMS message back

"FREE_VZW_MSG: MEssages sent to non-VZW customers with gradphics/tones/formatting and/or 160+ characters are sent as plain text with only the frist 160 characters."

So even though we can do so, it is not going to matter unless you are only sending the messages to VZW phones. Kind of sucks and I did test it out with a friend on ATT. I sent 3 pages, page 1 had all 1's on it, page 2 had all 2's on it and page 3 you guessed it had all 3's on it. He only received page 1.

So that is a bummer and I was stoked and happy and looks like I will have to remember to limit myself when composing my texts.

Just wanted to pass this on to everyone.

I would think/hope VZW would just split it up to 3 different txt messages to non VZW customers.

That would be too much work for them, they rather work on their 3G coverage.. lol

Or send MMS since there's no limit to those I guess. Once we get everyone to start using gtalk in lieu of BBM/Texting we won't have to worry about limits.

Yeah it just stinks. Not the end of the world but I was happy to see that there was no restriction and then like those bastards when I got the text message saying that.

So I guess it just stinks and really would just like them to restrict it since then I could worry about sending multiple texts. Oh well maybe they would break it up automatically....ha ha ha ha....yeah right......

Some things will never change with Verizon...What I wouldn't pay for a native BBM style app.

Isnt that what GoogleTalk is for? There version of like BBM for there clients.

However I would love to have BBM over here like. Would be cool if there was an app that could allow you to associate and be in contact with BBM contacts

This actually happens with other carriers as well. My company is currently developing an app for sms and this is a restriction from others as well.
