With everything that's being shown now about 2.2 on the Droid(or lack of), it looks all too familiar. kinda looks like RIM. touting this release as something big and bold.

Totally disappointed. 2,2 is looking to be just a lil speed boost and a couple of new kinks to use more then 1 account.

What exactly do you want it to be? You want them to make your phone an extension of your body? Internal implants so you never need to own another cellphone again? Maybe with 2.3 they can turn you into an Android.

I don't understand what you expected from it. No one led anyone to believe it would be anything life-changing so I don't see how you could be disappointed with an update that's free.

Well let's say it like this Jake rooted the incredible and is making a kernel for it boost is waiting for his to make dom 4.0 but Jake is still making kernels and. Is working on 2.2 and a kernel for it. Who knows of all the devs will leave the Droid I doubt it but with the shadow and Droid 2 you may see a slow down

Oh and BTW p3 has shown pics of froyo on the Droid and its not a port its MOTO built. But I doubt he will release it hope I'm wrong

I se moto has started with vague Facebook status updates about software updates. Again. This is going to be 2.1 all over again. I wish they just didn't say anything until release.

The only reason I rooted in the first place was to overclock but my Droid has been at stock speed ever since before 2.1 officially rolled out.

So now that I don't need to overclock anymore, I'm okay with stock 2.2. I wouldn't mind being rooted on it but it's always safer to be on stock anyways.

    To each his/her own.
ok, we get it. your unrooting for the 2.2 release.

    on a side now...

does anybody have a feeling that this update is coming soon. with all of the publicity as well as some leaked info here and there. i know some of it is probably rumors but this time around it seems to a little more together.

I feel the same way. I'm sure Moto learned after their last attempt at 2.1 to get their stuff together and maybe switched their OTA distro or upgraded it to handle the stress.

i also think all of us droid owners wizened up in the process. After the last fiasco i think everybody is prepared for a September release, though we are hoping sooner.

in all honesty things could be worse for us. im happy to get the update whenever it is. The samsung behold users are still at 1.5 and might get 1.6. Samsung said that they will not get 2.0 and it's even funnier because that phone came out more recently than the droid

Android 2.2 has been pushed to Motorola DROID testers on Verizon. Apparently the JIT makes it fly

Could be only a few weeks before it's approved! Maybe even sooner

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Verizon is bound to find something they don't like and want fixed.

I have a feeling 90% of the users here are ex-blackberry users. Rim definitely caused a lot of pessimism for cellphone up. Blame Canada haha

Don't know, but I know some testers DO have it on their Droids. An old Blackberry friend who works for Verizon

Most likely the SDK version of it that is really REALLY ****ty and barely runs. Nice try though. Oh and just a btw Motorola would be the one getting it not Verizon as Motorola compiles the OS using their drivers and closed source google apps then pushes it to V for testing. So you are full of ****.

Just downloaded ROM Manager Premium. Got tired of loading ROMs the old way and it's a lot faster doing it through ROM Manager now. Rooting FTW! I'll definitely wait until CM/BB release 2.2 ROMs. For now, I'll enjoy CM 5.0.7.1.
