Just want to confirm with those of you "in the know".
I'm able to use my original/old Droid for tethering a laptop or computer via USB cable. Recently I puchased an iPad, so I tried a couple of the free wi-fi hotspot apps on the Droid to see if I could use the iPad on the Droid's connection. They do not appear to work.
Unless I'm losing my memory, my original Droid (purchased May, 2010) does not have the hardware ability to provide "tethering" as a wi-fi hotspot. Meaning, something in the back of my mind tells me the original Droid didn't have the "radio" capable of transmitting a wifi hotspot that my iPad could connect to.
I'm not rooted, and have no current plans to root the phone.
