wifi vs 3g, don't see difference

It seems all I need is 3g, because everytime I try to use wifi at home (I have wireless, and run my laptop off it), I can't get anything using the browser. How can I tell is wifi is doing anything?

Sounds like it isn't in your case. What sort of troubleshooting have you attempted so far? Is it a wireless N router? If so, have you set to to G-only? Have you tried disabling any encryption or MAC address filtering just to see if your device can connect? Have you enabled SSID broadcast to see if it affects your device's ability to connect?
