I currently have a BB Storm 1 that I'm fed up with. I can't see upgrading to a Storm 2, which is more of the same. I like the Droid, but really like the theoretical specs of the Passion. I'd hate to get the Droid now, and have the passion come out in a couple months for Verizon and not be able to use my Upgrade for it.

I'd prefer the faster processor, no hard keyboard, smaller size, etc... of the Passion. But no one really knows when/if the Passion is coming to Verizon.

I can probably live with the Storm for a couple more months if necessary, but don't look forward to it.

One of my main issues with the Droid is the email. I rely heavily on email during the day for my business (self employed). BB's outage yesterday cost me more than I like to think about. I don't use Gmail as my primary email account, and don't really want to forward that domain/email to Gmail. I've heard/read very mixed reviews about Droids email client. I can't afford to have huge delays or miss email. That's a primary concern with leaving Blackberry. They do email better than anyone else, unless there's an outage....

So, do I get a Droid now, or wait a bit to see if the Passion is coming out any time soon? I'm hoping the N1/Google phone goes to T-Mobile, and Verizon gets the same hardware as the Passion. Makes sense in theory.

What to do, what do do...

I suggest waiting for the Passion or just get the Eris and sign a one-year contract instead of two-year.. I wish I had. Like the Storm 1, The Moto Droid functions rather poorly as a phone. But if you don't mind listening to Snap, Crackle, and Pop in every phone call followed by the occasional random high-pitched tea-kettle whistling and constant echos of yourself on international calls then, by all means, buy a Moto Droid!

That problem must only be international calling because my clarity is great

I've never once had an issue with my call quality, not even the slightest crackle.

Me either. No matter what you get, they will come out with a better phone 3-5 months later. I use my Droid with exchange and gmail, and its just as fast as my bb tour was.

I have no call quality issues. As far as email goes, just get your self an exchange account through godaddy and you will have instant email.. Exchange email uses push email.

I would highly recommend you go with the Droid. As a previous Storm user, you will not be happier with making the switch to the Droid. My call clarity is perfect, the functionalilty is great, the phone is fast.

I went from the storm 1 to the droid and its really night and day. I got my s1 last year around xmas and although i never had any major issues with it, i was really just not very happy with it. I got the droid about a month ago and the only real issue i have is the loose volume button. other then that the phone is GREAT. i am a fan of full, hard keyboards and although a lot of people complain about the droid keyboard it really is not bad, and after a few days of getting used to it i was easily faster then on the storm.

With all that being said, If the droid and passion were both out now and i could pick one of the two i would still pick the droid. The passion seems like a supped up eris which is not what I am looking for. But just know that whatever you do get, within 6 months a new phone will be out that will be better then the one you pick.

No call problems here. I also depend on both my exchange email and Gmail for work. Usually get all messages on Droid before computer.

I have had some"white noise" on calls, seems to come and go so I cant really say if it is the device, the local towers, the other person(s) cell or what it is.

I bit the bullet and bought a Droid today. There's a bit of a learning curve, but I was expecting that. My big issue now will be syncing my outlook calendar with Gmail. That's a must for this phone to work for me.
