Stock music app hijacking headset controls - remove it?

I just rooted, so I suppose I have the option to remove the stock music app now that I have WinAmp. I wouldn't bother (it doesn't take up that much space), but it keeps hijacking my headset controls, which is very annoying. Winamp allows you to turn on headset control so that when I am in Beyondpod for podcasts, that app will have all the control until I change it, and vice-versa.

So, can I, should I, delete the stock music app, or is there someway to keep it from controlling my headset? I read somewhere that there could be complications with the WinAmp widget if I delete the stock music, so if I can just solve my one problem, maybe that would be better.
