Droid and AT&T...

If this has been posted and I just didn't find or see it, I am sorry.

I really want to buy my first Android phone. I have been really wanting the Nexus One but my current carrier is AT&T and I really have no plans on switching. Now, I know N1 will not work on AT&T's 3G network, 2G and EDGE only. I read some rumors that Google may be working on an AT&T 3G phone as well. Nothing solid though. Back to why I originally posted... I really want a Android phone now and I was thinking of going with the Motorola Droid and just buying it outright and popping in my AT&T SIMM card. Will this phone work as intended in its full glory on AT&T?

The droid won't, but the Milestone (GSM Droid) in theory should..a Canadian Milestone

Short answer:
Droid has no SIM card slot.

if you were to purchase the telus branded milestone unlocked you would be able to insert your sim and it would run seamlessly. many people have done that with other smartphones. the only downside is the milestone doesn't receive nearly the same community support or hacks
