well, they do have the NE2, which seems to be much more than any other provider gives you, a $100 credit to getting a new device when your contract up seems like a pretty decent thank you.

it also doesn't hurt to have friends who can help with upgrade timing

I will temporarily upgrade to a Family share plan online then have the DROID billed to my account at the 2 year price $199(online only). I will pay it off in a month or so then cancel the extra line and pay the ETF. This way i don't pay it all at once, don't care if it costs me more than full retail in the end.

so long as you get the contract signed before they raise the ETF, it makes sense, if you get it after the ETF is raised to 350, it might make more sense to put a dumbphone on the second line and shell out the $10 a mo for 2 yrs (200 phone + 240 line charge = 440) vs (200 phone + 350ETF = 550)

I got hosed...lol. I can't use my early upgrade due to coming from the Alltel merger so I'm going to end up having to buy on CL or pay full retail (probably not going to happen @ full retail).

So off to CL I go tomorrow!

I would cancel/new apply but my Alltel plan for the next 18 months is better than any Verizon plan (whole thing is 140 for 2 full data enabled phones and 11 circle numbers). So I'm going to be saving that til they try to force change me.

we went in, and while his contract renewal wasn't up til jan 2011 and his ne2 was used jan 2009, the rep gave us the 1yr contract rate. don't know if we just caught a guy in a a good mood or if he was just tired from being at work since 630, but this was something they just offered us.

if you guys are close to a year into your contract, try this! only $70 more for a 1yr contract. yay!
