Wireless Tether question

I'm interested in tethering to get some internet access as I just moved to the country and there are No ISPs where I live. Is it still possible to tether with the X? I'm currently on. 605 rooted.

Thank you. Will this work on other phones too? My girlfriend has an eris. Also, ive got unlimited data, but ive heard about "cracking down" on tethering. Will i incur any extra charges from doing this? Thanks so much for answering my questions.

I am not sure as I stick to DX1 only. You would have to check the appropriate forums. You will not incur extra charges by wi fi tethering this way.

Hey So I downloaded that tether application and it keeps bringing me to a Verizon page telling me I have to subscribe for $20 a month. What am I missing here? I thought people were tethering for free?

You have to flash the wifi tether patch. 605 fixed the wifi tether loophole. I will post a link when I find it.
