Hello AndroidCentral,

I recently bought an used Motorola Xoom 3G running Android 3.0.1. Everything is running perfectly as long as I don't try to install Android 3.1.

Here are some information about my device:
- Android 3.0.1
- Modelnumber: MZ601
- Kernelversion: 2.6.36.3
- Firmware: GAS_EMEA_USAEVRSTUTMDE_P007
- Build-number: H.6.1-38-5
- It was bought from telekom Germany

Since I bought it from second hand, I can't really tell whether it has been rooted or not :(

Anyway, now here is the error I encounter when I try to install the very small (155kb) update called
6.1.409.en.EU (As far as I understand, this is a pre-update needed in order to install the real 3.1 update)

- After the download has completed, I hit "install now" and the Xoom reboots.
- The next thing I see is an animation which looks like some extraction. This process aborts after approx. 20%
- The next screen shows a warning-sign with the android symbol right next to it

The only solution to this was to make a hard-reset and wipe all user data to restore the factory settings, so it will boot again (but only with 3.0.1 :( )

What can I do?
Do you know this error?

UPDAT: I just confirmed that my Xoom is NOT rooted (I used this how-to: http://www.androidcentral.com/is-my-phone-rooted). But that does not mean that it has never been rooted, right?

Thank you.
Best,
eimunic
