I have a Toshiba external hard drive. I would like to be able to see the movies I have on it using my Motorola Xoom. I'm not sure how I go about connecting them. Nor if I need to update the software on it. I haven't added, upgraded or deleted anything from it, since I bought it. I've read a few message boards regarding this. Yet, I'm still confused as to what I need to do. From the message boards they discussed an OTG adapter as well as upgrading the system that is on the xoom. They also discussed something about rooting it. I really need assistance in this matter. I'm not tech savy at all. Help, please. Thank you.

Welcome to the forums. You would need an adapter. The question will be if the device can read the adapter, though.

I would think anything that can go from micro USB to USB A should be fine. The real question is will the device be able to read it. If you get the adapter from a major retailer, you should be able to return it if it doesn't work.
