How to back up APPS one HTC One X?

I just recently got my HTC One X and I would like to do a software update on it. My question is, how do I backup all the applications I downloaded without having to re-download it again after the update is done? It seems like too much of a hassle because this phone doesn't have a removable SD slot I can save it to.

Please help.

You need to be rooted and use an app like Titanium Backup. But at that point you should unlock the bootloader and run custom ROM's honestly.

I am all for backups so don't take this wrong but I have upgraded twice and neither upgrade caused any issues with my apps.

I am new to android and haven't worked up the nerve to root or unlock yet. At some point I will play around with launchers and rooting and roms but I am really happy with this phone just the way it is!

Since Google Play and Amazon Appstore keep track of all that you've downloaded, it's fairly easy to reinstall all of your apps, and doesn't take that long.
