Samsung Intercept is not recognizing the battery charger

Has anyone had this problem or know what to do? My Samsung Intercept is not recognzing the battery charger when it's connected to re- charge. I WAS getting the msg. to connect the charger that it's low, etc, so I connected the charger to the phone the battery, yet was then getting msgs. to connect the battery charger [my phone IS NOT recognizing the charger whenit's connected to charge] I now have a dead phone as it's unable to charge my battery. My battery is fine, I switched it with another one and I also switched the battery charger, so I don't know what to do?
I again pulled out the battery while the phone is connected to the charger, and it say's 'charger disconnected'. 911! please..
