N7 wifi (2012). I searched through about a year or so of threads and didn't find any issues similar to mine. The short story: I flashed CM 10.1 and gapps. Everything seemed to go correctly. However, once it was finished, the new ROM wasn't on the device. Just the factory ROM.

I'll post the longer version with details in the N7 forum.
