Hi! newbie needs help!

As it is mentioned above, I'm new on this forum.
I own a HTC wildfire, and heard about root , RoMs and stuff.

I did research on this forum and many others.
So android is based on Linux , so you root to become S.U. and use a Rom to have fun.
I'm aware of tlhe dangers and damages that can happen.
But I haven't enough information, I still have questions, that's why i'm here ^^

- what RoMs can I use , I mean, can I use HTC desire RoMs ?

- is rooting a solution to have all the android apps free?

- do you have to be a hardcore programmer to mess with this, or can noob like me get away with it?

- What is the every-day cool thing about having a rooted Android?

- If tutorials exist , on how to root a wildfire , can u link me one?

Uh... I already read that, and I need more info.
Does rooting makes all Android market apps free ?

Rooting is nothing more then giving your device superuser access.
