Pure Data is a sound/media programming language perfect for making sound engines for games, sound toys, musical instruments, etc. It is Free Software and is embeddable into Android, as well as many other platforms, as is already used in a few iPhone apps (rjdj, Inception, etc) and games (EA Spore, etc.). It is a patching/programming language which allows you to make wonderful sound machines by connecting boxes together with virtual wires. Or you can draw from a huge library of effects, synths, etc. This is great if you are making an app which does complex or interesting things with dynamic audio or music or whatever. You can find the project for doing that here:

Chris McCormick, one of the main devs, is giving a workshop in Los Angeles this Thursday if you are interested in learning about this stuff. You can sign up here: Pure Data - Pd As Your Embedded Audio Engine - $100.00 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

    Hope to see you there!
