So I rooted my Nexus 4 and now the hotspot feature doesn't seem to work. It doesn't even ask for the password, it just says unable to connect on both my laptop and iPad Mini. You guys know what might be causing this? It worked when I wasn't rooted while I was using FoxFi

I just added root access, stayed with Stock 4.2.2

try using it without any security and see if you can connect.
it's possible the type of encryption being used isn't supported on the devices you are trying to connect to the phone with.
root shouldn't affect it, it'll work fine with or without root
