Hello AC
I am new to android and I have just bought a nexus 5.
Could anyone please take out time to explain me what is kernels, art and dalvik in n5?
I couldn't really find something helpful on google about kernels.
Also, I'd like to know more about developer settings and custom roms.. which i think i can easily find on this forum. So you can skip this if you want.

Thanks! :)
PS: Any suggestions on what i should do, don't do, or download are very much welcome

Welcome to the forums.
Kernels basically communicate between the software and hardware. Almost every type of command goes through the kernel at some point in time. Some custom kernels allow for under or overclocking the CPU, and sometimes some stock kernels are written rather poorly (it is a piece of software) that sometimes, just installing a custom kernel can possibly improve battery life.

ART and Dalvik are app runtimes. So, basically, how they are optimized to run. ART is set up differently from Dalvik, and can offer better battery life, but as for the moment it is still in testing, or beta.

Developer options are options on the OS that can make some minor changes in how the OS runs, i.e. animations, allowing for USB debugging, etc.

The Android Open Source Project (AOSP) is open for people to build. A custom ROM is basically a different version of Android that you have on your Nexus 5. Many times, more customizing options are available. A benefit to custom ROMs is that whoever the builder is often keeps the ROM for a particular device up to date longer than the OEM.

Cleared most of them. The link helped too. I can handle the rest I guess. Thank you again.

Any suggestions about any useful app or something else?
For example, I really liked how I can plugin my flash drive, mouse etc with otg.

Kinda depends on what apps you are looking for. I often use Google Keep, which is a simple, yet effective note taking app. Otherwise, Nova Launcher is another I would recommend.
