Nexus 5x switches to 3g data when tether is enabled via sim-card hack. How do I stop this?

I have a Nexus 5x and Verizon's unlimited data plan. For the last few months, I've used the sim-card trick to turn on my wifi hotspot and get unlimited 4g wifi. Now, whenever I do it, my data switches to 3g. This totally sucks and I'd like to know how to stop it. Thanks!

The carrier defeated the hack. Now you'll have to pay for tethering to get 4G tethering.
