Google does not care about customers, only rules.

Before you buy a phone from Google be aware that they will stick by their rules, only rules matter. Customer service is not important only rules. Only buy a phone from Google if you know you will not have to call customer service. Just a PSA.

What problem did you have with the 5X? Perhaps we can assist? Or, maybe there's a post on Google's support forum that we can find to help you with the problem.

Hi guys,
My issue is almost every time I call someone or they call me, they say they can barely hear me and my voice is cracking up. Unfortunately I use my phone as a phone so I need to talk. When I put the call on speaker phone its all cleared up, all good. I have done a factory reset(2x) second time I didnt put any apps back on. Same results. The problem is its not every single call so the mic is ruled out. Next I disabled everything to do with Google's voice activation ( asking Google how the weather is). No change. This happens all over my city and I traveled to Arizona, happens there too. Tried cleaning the mic out. Not dirty, no change. Really I cannot remember everything I have tried at this point. Its been going on since Nov.

They did I am on the second one that does the same thing. They sent me a "refurb". I was told by Google Customers service that I would be getting a new unit and if I am unhappy for any reason "then we can talk". After I got the referb I tested it and it doesnt work either I asked for my money back and they said no cant do it its against our rules. Went through 3 team leads/specialist. Now I have to send this one back. The details are really not going to matter in the end as I just wanted to warn people that if they are considering a Google phone that they really dont have "customer service" in the normal sense. Its more of a throw another unit at them that was broken for someone else and tell them to shut up. That's what I am experiencing. Oh and I also purchased the Google Care for $75 which doesnt matter at all, just more money down the drain.

Sorry you are having so much trouble with that. Sometimes you can call again and get a different response from different reps which can be frustrating but helpful depending on what they say. They have to have rules and policy's though. Otherwise people take advantage. Are you trying to get a refund? Or do you want them to just fix the issue? If it's the latter then they may not be able to just fix it or it might be easier or better if they just send a new phone. It's odd though that you had this same issue on two phones though. Hopefully the new one works though. It really is a great phone.

I agree completely that rules are there for a reason. The other side of the coin is customer service also means knowing when to break the rules. I am in the customer service business and know when this is necessary to break the rules to keep a customer.
