I'm considering switching to the AT&T plan with unlimited data (requires direct tv subscription). We can't get broadband in our rural location so I'm stuck with satellite service which is slow and expensive. I'd like to use my 5X as a hotspot for the router but it doesn't sound like AT&T allows this useage in their plan. Does anyone know a way to keep them from knowing when I'm tethering or hotspotting?

No; unfortunately that's not allowed with their plan. Hiding the usage would then be a violation of AT&T's TOS and falls under the illegal activities section of our Community Guidelines; yadda yadda, so we can't help with that part. Does AT&T offer a suitable plan for portable WiFi hotspots? https://forums.androidcentral.com/e?...token=uXVw_Stg the bottom link seems to be applicable for Mobile hotspot devices. Good luck!
