Nexus 5x fingerprint issue

[Android Central Question]

Hi.
Several time a day when I am putting my finger on the fingerprint scanner, it says me that "finger moves to fast" but at that time I keep my finger on scanner but I don't move my finger at that moment and I don't know why it gives an error. So is it hardware or software related issue?

Welcome to Android Central! Did your finger skip a bit at first when touching the sensor? That can lead to a "finger moved too fast" message.

Hard to say if it's hardware or software. You could consider reinstalling the firmware: https://www.androidcentral.com/how-manually-upgrade-pixel-nexus-android-beta

Actually I upgraded my phone from 7.1.2 to 8.0.0 and the issue is still present. So I don’t think that reinstalling the firmware will help.

Are you saying the fingerprint sensor was originally causing problems in 7.1.2, and updating to 8.0 didn't fix it? In that case, you're probably right -- it's more likely to be a hardware issue.
