I am considering getting a wireless charger for my Nexus 6. Is Qi or Powermat safe for the phone? I have heard of phone batteries swelling in some cases. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

There's probably a few threads in the 'Nexus 6 Accessories' forums.

I love my TYLT. Its nice because I do not have to mess with aligning it with the back to get it charged. Also, I leave the case on the phone and the phone does not get hot. Also, when I take it off charge in the morning it is at 100% battery.

I noticed something different with the behavior of the N6 vs N5 for the same chargers (two I own, both cheap ones). The N6 will 'disconnect' from the charger once full, while the N5 would stay connected. The lights on my chargers actually switch from green to red when its full. Phone stays at 100% though. Think its a feature to protect the battery mostly.

Got the Anker today and it works just as advertised and I was able to use my old Samsung charger.

I assume that the wireless will charge more like a traditional charger and not the turbo speed that I am not used to.

It'll be slower than a normal charger, roughly 1a depending on qi charger and power supply. Due to how it charges the phone, it will also generate more heat than a regular charger that provides the same current.

Thanks, that's what I figured about the charging speed. I really like how thin the charging pad is really takes up no space at all.

To answer the question that you asked that was only indirectly answered, get a Qi charger. Powermat chargers do NOT work with Nexus phones. They use different technology and therefore are not compatible with each other

SaltyBrine, I ordered wireless efficiency's iPhone 6S wireless charger and receiver case for my wife's iPhone as I use the GN6. However, I find myself using it for my Nexus6 more than my wife uses it for her iPhone.
It comes with a well constructed case for the iPhone which you need for the wireless charging pad to work with your iPhone. I can use it for my N6 as well. The pad itself looks very cool. It's made out of transparent strong glass looking plastic I'm guessing. During the day, the charger gives out a nice led light pattern as it charges and at night it dims it automatically so it doesn't bother you.
All in all, a must have for iPhone users who are deprived of native wireless charging and also a great and cool gadget to have for all your other Qi enabled devices.

Has anyone done any tests to see if quick charge using wireless has the same speed as quick charge with cable?

I have an Ikea nightstand with built in wireless charging and it works great! Obviously it charges slower than using the charger that came in the box but I usually charge over night so I doesn't really matter.

I found that the newest wireless charger from Samsung is the best. It has a built in fan that keeps unit cool and phone barely gets hot while charging.
