Just wondering if anyone's tried sideloading the Motion Lanuch APK to a Nexus 6.

I'm assuming it won't work. Or that it would cause problems with Active Display. But I know next to nothing about sideloading, rooting and such, so. . .

    If anyone's interested. . .

Oh. The answer is, as expected, No, you can't sideload the Motion Lanuch APK to a Nexus 6.

I tried, and the phone basically flipped me off. It went through the motions but ended at an "X not installed" screen.

Nevertheless, the HTC Camera and Gallery apks still sideload effortlessly. I just put em on my "backup" N6.

Didn't expect it to work. However, there are apps that allow you to take advantage of the wake gestures, and even assign custom actions when those gestures are executed.

One app that comes to mind is called "Wake Gestures" which was released by ElementalX. But you must have his kernel install with the wake gestures enabled. Maybe it will work with other kernels what allow wake gestures as well, but I honestly haven't searched to see which others exist.
