I have a Verizon Nexus 6 that I unlocked and rooted last October. I recently finally got around to updating to Marshmallow, but in the process I've lost root. How can I re-root my phone without wiping it? I'm on a Mac and the only program I've found that does it (One Click Root) says it also does a factory reset, and I don't want to lose all my data - I just want to root.

Welcome to the forums. How did you root the last time? Is your bootloader unlocked?

I actually don't remember the specifics of how I did it last time (it was almost two years ago). I used some sort of all-in-one software (like Nexus Root Kit, but I don't think that was the exact one) which rooted and unlocked it. Currently, my phone is unlocked, it's just not rooted.
