Newbie Rooting Question

1. Why are there only 7 threads in this entire 6P rooting forum? Is it because since the 6P does not have bloat ware most people don't need to root it?

2. I'm studying up on rooting right now. If I root, is it like a "reformat" on a computer, where I have to install everything from scratch? Or will I just be able to use everything I've already got installed and gain access to the features which are the reason I want to root?

Unlocking the bootloader is what will wipe your phone. After that gaining root will not wipe anything. But you need to unlock the bootloader to root, so yeah.
