    I don't think so. Since the fingerprint scanner is on the back of the phone, there will probably be a lot of times when the phone is laying down on a flat surface when we'll have to use a different unlock method.

    Actually marshmallow can do double tap to wake but not exactly the way you are saying.

    when you touch or move the nexus it will show you important notification message and when you touch again it will wake the device up

    so a slow double touch will wake up the device
