I downloaded the security update, clicked install and the phone begins the install process by rebooting. However, it loads the teamwin screen.

I clicked reboot, but that did not install the update.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Sound to me like you have rooted and installed a custom recovery on you phone. The OTA will not install with a rooted phone I am not sure about the custom recovery, but I think that would keep in from doing a OTA as well. You will have to manually download and flash the upgrade, using either Fastboot method or WugFresh NRT toolkit.

DLK1 is correct. Once you've installed TWRP, you can no longer take OTAs. But manually installing updates is pretty easy, with or without a toolkit. And you can flash the full image without wiping your data, there's lots of info out there to do that.

I am using Google Fi and traveling in Germany without a pc. I can't risk losing my sim activation because it can only be reinstated in the US. I looked at Wugfresh's Nexus Root Toolkit but I am not sure that is the way to go or which option to use.

Again, thank you both for your response.
