Fingerprint settings changed

[Android Central Question]

Recently apps on my phone that support fingerprint unlock present a message like "your fingerprint settings have changed so for your security we require a pin to open" or simply just prompt for a pin. It's a nokia 5 and it has been probably a month since I last updated. However I have not had this issue with the main unlock screen, it continues to work as expected. I've had a brief look in the security settings and I don't see any suspect apps with permissions there. Any ideas of what might be suddenly causing this? Thanks!
