Immediately after the April Security Patch arrived, I've noticed a significant battery drain compared to previous usage.

    Anyone else noticed this?

The 7.1 has been faultless since I purchased it 18 months ago.

I received the April security patch overnight and installed it first thing Wednesday morning and by the afternoon the battery was down to 45% . It would normally be at that level when I turn in for bed.

I've tried several restarts to no avail.

Again today, by the afternoon it was down to about 55% with no usage to speak of.

I have only carried out two charge cycles since Wednesday.

Can you show us some battery stats over the span of a charge, from 100% down to about 20-30%? Make sure to tap the Menu button and select Show Full Device Usage so that system processes are shown as well.

Ok, having never been troubled with battery issues in the past, what's the best app to use?

Just start with the Settings>Battery screen in the system settings. I'm not sure how the Nokia's system settings are organized, but on a Pixel, I go to Settings>Battery, then tap Menu>Battery Usage, and then Menu>Show Full Device Usage. If there's a particular app or service that's misbehaving, it should show up there pretty clearly.

Thanks, I'll get back in a while.

Ok, after the third change cycle things seem to have settled down and now virtually back to normal. See screen shots.

One thing I did find odd was that directly after the update I was suddenly receiving weather notifications from Google. Never had these prior to the update. I've now turned that feature off.

Fingers crossed, now hoping all is well. Thanks for your help.

It could have just been the update settling in.
Depending on how extensive an update is it can take a while, and some battery, for apps and services to get themselves back to normal.
    Glad it worked out.

Yep, I was just about to suggest what TgeekB already said. I'm never quite sure what's involved with an update settling in, but it does seem to be a real phenomenon. In the first charge cycle at least, I would imagine that the process of app optimization is part of the battery drain.
