This looks nice. Will be interesting to see the price point for this but could be a big seller for HMD (nokia) especially if it has a zeiss lens. https://www.xda-developers.com/fresh...-developers%29

Bit of a bummer where they mention it will have a slight uprade as the Nokia 9 may be delayed. The 9 is the phone I'm holding out for

    .
So what's missing in 8 that the 9 was supposed to have?

It's all rumors at this point. The 9 got renamed to 8, according to GSMArena.

From what I can tell from the rumours it sounds like the Nokia 8 has had a spec bump but falls a little short of what the Nokia 9 was supposed to have. So it basically falls somewhere in between the 2. Either way it's all speculation like you say and if this article is true then this will be their top flagship for now no matter what rumours are flying around

Everything I read so far points to no bezels. Anyone know if Verizon will carry this?

Definitely a typical nokia with those bezels and square design.

I'm sure there is going to be a 9 especially since I've been hearing the processor might be a downgrade on the 8. It's all speculation at this point but will have to wait and see

Does anyone know what the software updates will be like? Have they committed to releasing (at least security updates) pretty quickly in line with Google.

I've also heard that it will be pretty much stock android which is cool.

Software Updates will be amongst the fastest to be released thanks to near stock Android. They have also committed to monthly security updates and firmware upgrades for 2 years.

It may well be the phone to replace my 5X then. Can't decide between the Nokia or Original Pixel.

Original Pixel all day long IMO. But it's also be easy to wait for the new one in 3 months.

They seem to be good so far on security updates

If you are choosing only between Nokia 8 or original Pixel, I would go for the Nokia, near stock software, newer hardware, probably a bit more attractive. But you probably can get the Pixel cheaper

I'd go the other way, but only because the new Nokia has never released a flagship and the pixel is proven to be a great device. Plus the Nokia design has a lot of ancient elements to it that need updating. Hopefully the 8 is good though so next year we'll know if they're pushing quality or not.

Just saw that as well. Here's a link to the gallery.

It seems like this particular finish is easily scuffed, but the design looks good otherwise. Hope there will be matte editions as well.

The pixel that is. I think Nokia is pushing quality already with the release of their 3 Android phones released already. Nokia has always made reliable phones I somehow don't think quality is going to be any kind of issue. Especially on their comeback devices. I personally would worry more about the pixel then nokia.

I'm certainly hoping so. If the camera is a let down I may actually shed a tear

Can't agree with you here. Neither the old or the new Nokia has never released a flagship and the history of Nokia on Microsoft devices can't be counted to their advantage on Android. Neither company has much built up in the way of history yet, with Google having only released 1 flagship lineup and HMD having released 0 so far. Really is a big question mark, impossible to draw any conclusions in Nokia's favor until there's actually something to see.

Agree that I hope it's good, but "blowing Google out of the water" is damn near impossible, as a year later they're still the second best camera on the market. Old Nokia's best flagship camera is 3 years old at this point as isn't in the top 30 cameras on smartphones now, due to the rapid clustering of many OEM's near the top of the pack. I certainly don't think Nokia is going to bomb out on camera, but my best guess is that they'll slide into the middle of the leading pack.
