Android 7 a voicemail problem

Before Android 7 my phone would ring for a short while and if not answered the voicemail message would start. Now the phone rings and rings and rings but no voicemail starts. Any idea how I can make it work again?

Welcome to Android Central! Voicemail is typically controlled by your carrier -- have you discussed the issue with them?

Open the Phone app, tap Menu>Settings>Call Settings>Voicemail -- is it still set up?

who is you phone provider?
as said its a setting that you can turn on/off.

mine is vodafone uk and to listen to messages its 121 send.
then the voice message gives you the option to listen to message, setup message, turn on/off or help menu.
